What You Can Do to Make Your Online Experience Secure
While Lone Star National Bank continues to improve security controls to protect your information, we believe it is extremely important for you to share in the responsibility for security. The following are some ways you can protect yourself and your accounts:
Surfing and Shopping Online
- Make sure your Internet browser of choice is updated on a regular basis.
Secure Your Computer
- Install appropriate anti-spyware and anti-virus protection software on your computer to help detect and remove known viruses and spyware that can steal personal information.
- Install a personal firewall to help prevent unauthorized access to your computer.
- Keep your operating system and software up-to-date by installing recommended patches and updates regularly.
- Never leave your computer unattended for someone else to gain access.
Safeguard Your Personal Information
Personal information includes things such as Social Security numbers, account numbers, and driver’s license numbers.
- Never share your online banking username and/or password with anyone.
- Never share your ATM/Debit Card number and PIN with anyone.
- Never provide your Social Security number to anyone unless you have initiated the request.
- Never use birth dates, Social Security numbers, phone numbers, or account numbers for passwords.
- Never answer emails asking you to verify account numbers or passwords.
- Use unique passwords for any site that contains sensitive information and change passwords regularly.
- Always logout and close your browser when you have completed your Internet Banking session.

A Lone Star National Bank representative will never ask you for your username, password, or personal PIN.

Lone Star National Bank would like to encourage our Business Banking customers to be aware and take special steps to ensure that your business banking information stays safe and secure.
Please take some time to make a list of the risks related to online transactions that your business faces including:
- Usernames and/or Passwords being written down and left out in the open.
- The use of old or inadequate (non-secure) passwords.
- The possibility of internal fraud or theft.
- Delays in terminating the online access rights of former employees.
- Maintaining dual control or other checks and balances over individual access to online transactions capabilities.
An evaluation of internal controls for your business uses may also include:
- Having company policies regarding use of secure password.
- Conducting employee background checks.
- Initiating a policy and process to terminate access for former employees.
- Segregating duties among two or more people so no one person has too much access or control.
- Maintenance of computers and using firewalls to protect from outside intrusion or hackers.
